Ashley heeft een interview gehad met Lucky Magazine over haar rol in ‘Wish I Was Here’, cosplay en ‘Twilight’.

It may seem like the dust has only just settled on the Twilight franchise—because in the two years since the film series officially ended, 27-year-old Ashley Greene has never fallen off our radar. From her sleek red carpet style to her role in last year’s indie CBGB, Greene hit the ground running (literally—we caught up with her last month before she ran a 10K in Central Park!) after shooting wrapped. And this Friday, she’s back on the big screen in Zach Braff’s long-anticipated follow-up (not sequel) to Garden State. Wish I Was Here, written by Braff and his older brother Adam, stars Braff as Aidan Bloom, a mid-30s struggling actor/family man trying to deal with his father’s terminal cancer. The film also stars Kate Hudson as Braff’s patient wife, Mandy Patinkin as his regretful father and Joey King as his religious daughter. Josh Gad plays his misunderstood genius of a brother who wants to impress his neighbor, played by Greene, at Comic-Con because she is “a character designer of full-size plush toys.” Read on for our interview with Greene.

Ashley heeft een interview gehad met Marie Claire over Oakley, het sportmerk waar zij momenteel het gezicht van is.

Kudos to Oakley for calling out all those women who buy the newest and trendiest sportswear to hmm, let’s see: shop, lounge around, and maybe hit a Starbucks, but don’t actually workout. You know who you are. In their latest female-driven campaign “Made for More,” Oakley has tapped one of Hollywood’s fittest actresses, Ashley Greene, to spearhead the initiative. Why? Because she is the Oakley girl—cool, smart, competitive, and gets her ass to the gym. Recently in town to run the women-only Oakley New York Mini 10K, Ashley took a breather and chatted with Marie Claire about her lifestyle, go-to playlist, and how she got that body because, well, damn.

So how’d you hook up with Oakley, of all sports brands?
It was something we kind of stumbled upon because I initially went to Bali with them to go on a surf trip that I luckily got invited to, and I just had such a blast and really got on with everyone from Oakley and all the athletes. They were like, “You know, you really fit in with what Oakley is about—you should maybe represent us….”

That’s so cool! So you were like, “Hell ya?”
Of course, I was super excited about it! For me, if I’m going to put my name behind something and be a representative, I want it to be organic and I want it to kind of match my lifestyle. I think that my beliefs and Oakley’s are very similar. They completely support women empowerment and always challenging yourself, going to that next level. They have an extremely positive message about having an active, healthy lifestyle. So for me it was kind of a perfect match.

The night before she was to take her place as the only celebrity in a 10K race, Ashley Greene had a small confession to make: “I’m not much of a runner,” she said, laughing. “You know, I love doing different workouts, so I was totally down to do this, but this is not something that comes easy to me.”

Thankfully, if there was ever a time to lace up, it would be now. The Oakley New York Mini 10K is the world’s original women-only road race, intended to empower women (and girls!) of all ages to be active. “It’s such a good message and a really good cause,” Ashley explained. “And it’s really great to try something new.”

In fact, the Twilight star is no stranger to the world of fitness. She attributes her lean, athletic frame to “hopping around” between workouts in Los Angeles, including the Tracy Anderson Method, kickboxing, and more. “I get bored really easily, so I need to mix it up,” she explained. “In high school, I did everything: competitive martial arts, swim and dive, and competitive cheer and dance. Those are all tough sports! So from a young age, I was active.”

But that didn’t necessarily mean she was 10K-ready. “I’ve been working with a trainer, Jason Walsh. He’s very in tune with movement and making sure the body is moving correctly. I basically had to re-program my body so I was engaging the proper muscles,” she said. “I didn’t realize it before I started, but my quads were really tight! It was because I wasn’t really paying attention to my body. So we’ve reversed that, for sure.”

And true to her spirit, she’s not following the traditional route of running multiple miles. “I got myself in shape doing different things, but the great part is, no day is the same. One day will be strength training, the next I’ll be running on a 30% incline, but it’s always something new and exciting. It pushes me!” she said. “The most I’ve ever run in a day is probably three miles—doing the six or eight mile thing can take a serious toll on your body.”

Not to mention, as any exercise fanatic knows, it also does a number on your skin. “I sweat a lot,” she admitted. “But I wash my face morning and night and I always keep facial towelettes in my car so I can touch up during the day. Honestly, though, your body detoxes with sweat. So if you continue to eat not-so-great foods and drink sugary drinks, that will all come out when you exercise, but it might cause you to break out. I’ve had to adjust my diet to be as clean as possible with lots of fish, chicken, and vegetables.”

There is one thing sweat won’t get through, however. “I don’t wear makeup to the gym because I would just feel weird,” she said. “But I’m still a girl! So I wear L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Mascara. I’ve been using it for years.”

And while we’re on the topic of girly things, she also packed two pairs of sneakers just in case. “I’m thinking the grey and yellow ones,” she said. It looks like they served her well! Check her out at the race below.

Ashley heeft een interview gehad met grindtv.com over haar advies om het beste te herstellen van een 10km loop.

Actress Ashley Greene might be running her first 10k this weekend (the Oakley NYMini) in Central Park, but she’s no stranger to working up a sweat. In fact, when we asked Greene to weigh in on how she handles recovery after a hard training session, she gamely identified two key components: stretching and hydration.

Greene describers herself as “competitive and stubborn,” with an “I can do anything” attitude when it comes to fitness. But when it came to fighting regular pain and stiffness in her quad, due in part to an unfortunate femur break when she was 12 that created scar tissue, Greene, with the advice of her trainer, mandated regular stretching and the use of a roller. “Not stretching causes injuries and strain,” Greene says. “Pain and frustration are great motivators.” Three of Greene’s favorite post-workout stretches are aimed at areas that need the extra attention: opening her hip flexors and groin, her quads, and her calves. And as for that roller, the actress adds, “The roller is my best friend. It’s painful, but it guarantees that I’ll sleep better if I use it right before bed.”

Prior to race day, Greene knows to avoid foods that can dehydrate her, like asparagus, which the actress loves. “I’m a huge water advocate, but taking in too much water is actually a negative,” says Greene, who regularly keeps hydrated with coconut water and electrolyte drinks like Gatorade. On race day, her plan is to take advantage of the aid stations, keeping her thirst quenched as she runs.

Because having a good recovery plan is vital to an athlete’s success post-race, we connected with Kim Mueller, a full-time registered dietitian and board-certified specialist in sports dietetics (she does not work with Greene), and asked her to weigh in on some best practices for an active recovery. This is what she shared.

Ashley heeft een interview gehad met Shape Magazine. Hier praatte ze over de de 10 km loop die ze dit weekend zal gaan lopen met het merk Oakley, geheimen van de ‘Twilight’ set en enkele gezonde tips.

From competing in martial arts to playing blood-sucking (and butt-kicking) Alice Cullen in the Twilight series, Ashley Greene has always stayed in fighting shape. And somewhere in between filming for the highly anticipated filmWish I Was Here, she’s been training for the Oakley New York Mini 10K tomorrow. We caught up with the star for the scoop on her favorite workouts, the toughest part about training for a race, and which of her Twilight costars would win in a squat competition.

Have you been active your whole life?
My brother and I were a year and a half apart and super close, which was why I was so tomboyish and athletic—I wanted to be like him! We grew up on a dirt road [in Jacksonville, FL], so we were always outside climbing trees and running around. When he got into martial arts, I did too and really loved it. I also did competitive cheer and dance, swim team, dive team, and played volleyball for a year. And I surfed and played watersports. I tested everything out. Being active was ingrained in my DNA from my family. We had an hour of TV a day, and the rest of the time we had to go outside and entertain ourselves.

How did you get in such great shape to play Alice Cullen?
For me, it’s always a variety. I get bored easily doing the same repetitive things. We did circuit training at a gym while filming Twilight. We formed friendly competitions between the girls—who could do the most squats, or who could run the quickest mile. It put us in great shape and in a great place mentally.

Shape: Who would win?
We ended up having different winners in different areas. I think I ran the fastest mile, but Nikki Reed did the most squats.

Which three foods you always keep in your kitchen?
I always have fresh chicken—I would say fish, but it’s hard to cook!—some type of nuts, like almonds or cashews, and a medley of vegetables. If you fill your plate with veggies like asparagus or yams.

Are there any guilty pleasures you can’t live without? When I want something sweet, I love Zico Chocolate Coconut Water—it’s an awesome substitute to quench your thirst and sweet tooth without being really bad for you. I also always have dark chocolate. My vices are usually salty though—I’m more of a savory than sweet person. I always have pickles in my refrigerator, which are not the best thing before a photoshoot because of the sodium. And Cheez-Its are very rarely in my house because I know I’ll eat the entire box!

As a Florida girl, what are your top beauty secrets for the summer?
Absolutely sunscreen. I always keep a bottle in my car—you don’t even realize how much sun you get just from driving around. And of course, water, water, water—it really does wonderful things to your body and your skin.

This weekend, you’re running the Oakley New York Mini 10K in Central Park. What was the hardest part of training for it?
I’m not really a runner, so I’ve been running outside on a track and on a treadmill, and doing workouts to strengthen my hips, glutes, balance and overall core. I think learning how to re-program my body has been difficult. My knees would always start to hurt when I’d start running, so I had to learn how to start using my glutes more. I’ve never run a 10K before, so we’ll see how it goes! For me, it’s more about the experience and the camaraderie with women.
