Rapper Rick Ross and YouTube star Todrick Hall also will appear as themselves on the YouTube drama’s forthcoming second season.
The world of Step Up: High Water is getting a little bigger.YouTube is adding several new characters to the dance drama ahead of its second-season premiere. Joining the cast for the new season, which will bow in 2019, are Twilight actress Ashley Greene and dancer-choreographer Jeremy Copeland.
Also set to return to the show is Ne-Yo, who will reprise his role as Sage Odom, the founder of the High Water Performing Arts School in Atlanta.
Greene will star as Nine Sanders, a New York-based A&R rep who returns to Atlanta to oversee the details of Sage’s tour. Copeland will play Zo Browder, a gender-fluid professional dancer who brings real-world experience to Sage’s crew.
High Water, which is based on Lionsgate’s Step Up franchise, tells the story of the students and teachers at a performing arts school. The films’ originals producers — Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot and Meredith Milton — all executive produce alongside original stars Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan. The series was created and executive produced by showrunner Holly Sorensen.
Season two will see Ne-Yo reunite with Naya Rivera, who stars as dancer-turned-administrator Collette, and the rest of the series regulars, including Petrice Jones and Faizon Love.
Rapper Rick Ross and YouTube star Todrick Hall will appear as themselves in the second season. Also making a cameo is choreographer JaQuel Knight, who also choreographed episode three.
Production on the 10-episode second season of High Water is currently underway in Atlanta.
